On Wednesday 16th March the Youth Travel Ambassadors (YTA's) from 4 schools attended the Civic Centre to take part in the Dragons Den. The schools participating were Bishopshalt, Northwood, Queensmead and Ruislip High and their aim was to bid for funding to undertake projects based on Road Safety and Sustainable travel issues. The Dragons they faced included the Councillor Burrows, Cabinet Member for Planning, Transportation and Recycling as well as officers from the Council, TfL and the Safer Transport Police.
The standard of presentation was extremely high and the Dragons were impressed with the thought, creativity and enthusiasm put into the bids. Funds were awarded on merit and the schools now have until the end of the school year to deliver on their projects.
The YTA Dragons Den initiative will be run again in 2016/17 and we are hoping to build on this years success with more secondary schools participating.
