To encourage your pupils and staff to travel with sustainability and ecology in mind. The more initiatives a school delivers, the greater the changes in behavioural change and the higher the STARS Accreditation awarded. Current awards and incentives include:

  • Access to funding from TfL such as cycling and walking grants.
  • Access to funding and resources at a borough level (this is borough dependent).
  • Certificates and plaques with yearly, attachable stars to show accreditation status.
  • Invitations to special regional knowledge-sharing seminar and awards ceremony to meet other schools and gather ideas.

  • Ready-to-use, downloadable campaign toolkits that help schools influence pupil travel choices or address issues such as parking congestion.
  • The prestige of being a STARS school, publicly demonstrating a commitment to sustainable and safer travel.

Applying is easy. Your borough officer is on hand to help plan and monitor your activities and to support you using the L'ets Go' online system. The online system allows you to record and identify travel behaviour of pupils and staff and identify any barriers to safer and active travel.

You can then pick from a range of travel initiatives and activities for pupils, staff and parents to run. You may also find some activities you run at your school already, count towards accreditation.
